Welcome to the Codependency Forum, a safe and supportive space dedicated to individuals navigating the complexities of codependency. Whether you are just beginning to recognize patterns of codependency in your relationships or are well on your way to recovery, this forum is here to provide you with the resources, support, and community you need.
Why We Are Here
Codependency often stems from deep-rooted emotional experiences, childhood trauma, and dysfunctional family dynamics. It can manifest as an excessive emotional or psychological reliance on a partner, friend, or family member, often at the expense of one’s own well-being. This forum is designed to help you break free from these unhealthy patterns and develop healthier, more balanced relationships.
My Journey
My journey with codependency began when I first realized the extent to which my relationships were defined by a need for approval and validation. Growing up in an abusive home, I was programmed to prioritize the needs and desires of others over my own. This continued into adulthood, affecting my relationships and my ability to set boundaries. It wasn't until my daughter ghosted me and I lost my partner that I hit rock bottom. Feeling lost, broken, and addicted, I found CoDA (Co-Dependents Anonymous) and later ACA (Adult Children of Alcoholics/Dysfunctional Families), which completely transformed my life. These programs helped me understand the roots of my codependency and gave me the tools to heal.
